This month; as we have done over the past 22 years, we have pleasure in bringing you a magazine packed with features and motoring stories from around the country and the world.
The test drive features this month include the Compact Crossover SUV from Audi, the Q2; the flagship Volvo S90 and at the budget end of the market, KIA Picanto. On the Audi… “until I see another vehicle with more kit for below Rs.10mil, this one’s got my attention” says Ryan Jansz who drove the Audi for us. And being second time lucky this month and driving the Volvo S90, says Ryan “If you’re at the upper end of the food chain but don’t want to be mainstream, the S90 might just be the way to go”. On the new KIA Picanto, Gishanka De Silva says “Pikachu’s little pepper lives up to its spicy little name with excellent looks both inside and out, sprightly, fun performance and a good price. It’s one of the best looking and best value cars in the segment and is probably one of the most interesting choices for anyone looking for a great city car”. So yes, we tested three cars representing three separate segments of the market. Hope you enjoy all three.
Our latest contributor Sajitha De Mel kicks off his regular column “Racer’s Pulse”, by interviewing none other than (unofficial) Sri Lanka brand ambassador Dilantha Malagamuwa. Look out for the upcoming features by Sajitha In the coming months when you will read about the exploits of other local racing drivers and riders.
The Italian Car Enthusiasts’ Club – the only local club dedicated to vehicles from a “country” as opposed to a brand – had their 2017 version of “Auto Arte Italiana”, which translates to “Italian Automobile Art”. It truly was a spectacular event, and in case you missed it I’m sure you will enjoy our feature in this magazine.
Also, we did a lot of research in to compiling the article on “Racing Minis in Sri Lanka”. To say that the classic Mini has become an icon in local motor racing is an understatement. I hope you will enjoy this feature; and indeed all the other features including the our 3rd Truck & Bus Supplement in this Issue!
