Once again we have a magazine packed with features that you are really going to enjoy reading, as much as we enjoyed putting together. Our 4-Test feature gives you the run down on four Jaguars – the XE, XF, XJ and the F-Pace. Ryan, Avinda, Ashraaq and myself, we all drove the four cars, but each one concentrated on one car only. Hope that you will like our format of the Test Drives that resulted in each one writing about their allocated car, but also writing a brief impression of each of the others. Briefly: the XE is a great, refined sports saloon while the XF is more of an Executive Express. The XJ on the other hand is a Premium luxury saloon, which draws attention wherever it goes due to its sleek styling. The F-pace is Jaguar’s first foray in to SUV territory and I would say that Jaguar have aced it on several fronts – the F-Pace becoming Jaguar’s best seller worldwide plus one of the sleekest looking SUV’s around, plus probably the one with the roomiest interior in its class, plus, plus…
The other Test Drive this month is the new Suzuki Wagon R Hybrid – one of the most “economically sensible” cars that money can buy in Sri Lanka. It is relatively affordable in our convoluted market, plus returns excellent fuel efficiency – and let’s face it, is ideally suited for our narrow, congested streets.
We were privileged to meet Gaurav Gill, the current Asia Pacific Rally Champion when he was here in Sri Lanka to drive in the Pannala AMG Speed @ Night event. Read our interview of Gill by Sajitha De Mel. By the way, we think that the organizers of the AMG Speed @ Night event have aced it where getting spectators back to the race tracks is concerned. Probably the cooler time of the day, combined with the lure of the after-party meant that there was an unusually large and enthusiastic crowd to witness the race.
In other pages you will find our regular Past Blast where we have featured a pristine E21 BMW - the first 3-series. Then of course you will find that we have covered all the motor sports events including off-road action from the Sappers Gympo.
We would love to hear from you about you and your car or bike, or indeed if you have anything at all to say about the magazine. So do drop us a line; and please – drive responsibly.
