The Jetour T2

Published on 26 Mar 2026

The Jetour T2 is manufactured by Jetour Auto, which is an independent subsidiary brand of the large Chinese automotive conglomerate, the Chery Holding Group. Jetour has sold over a million vehicles globally in just four years, and the T2 is their halo model with an unmistakeable likeness to the Defender but built on a modern monocoque platform with competitive pricing. The T2 is a mid-size SUV available as a petrol or plug-in hybrid, and its rugged, boxy design is bang up to date, giving it a solid, ready-for-action look. It has a good mix of both luxury and off-road capabilities.

The T2 features a unibody chassis, a variety of powertrain options including a 1.5L turbo petrol, 2.0L turbo petrol or PHEV hybrid systems, and multiple driving modes for different terrains. The interior offers modern amenities like a large touchscreen, premium materials, and advanced driver-assistance features. Our tester was a four-wheel drive variant equipped with the 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating some 180kw of power and 375Nm of torque. Also available are the 1.5 litre petrol version and the 1.5 litre PHEV versions.

Exterior

The boxy exterior of the Jetour T2 gives it a rugged look that gives it a tough, off-road stance. The design features bold lines and pronounced fenders that emphasize its adventurous SUV style. It is equipped with sleek LED Matrix headlights and stylish, functional illuminated fender lights. Functional roof rails add versatility for carrying extra gear and enhance the rugged look. The vehicle includes a spare wheel cover with an integrated rear camera - a classic off-road design element.

The T2 has a length of 4,785mm and high ground clearance, contributing to its commanding presence and off-road capability. It is available in various colours including Highway Grey, Sand, White, Silver Snow, Black, and Blue Grey. The bold, aggressive, and stylish appearance of the T2 draws attention while out and about, as was witnessed by the several inquiries by passers-by; some even following the vehicle in their vehicle and asking questions when we stopped for photography.

Interior

The interior of the T2 has a “ready for work” themed design, while quality materials, and comfortable, high-tech cabin with features like a large infotainment screen and panoramic roof bring a high-end overall feel. It is technologically advanced; the 15.6-inch touchscreen has a user-friendly interface. The Sony 8-speaker sound system delivers crisp sound and the faux leather seats are designed for comfort, and the front seats include ventilation and memory functions.

Overall, the interior has a modern well-organized layout with user-friendly controls, and amenities such as ventilated seats and wireless charging. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support are provided, and standard front-row wireless charging is included. The flat-bottom steering wheel adds a sporty touch. Open the flat tailgate and you find a boot that’s genuinely useful with built-in bottle opener, pull-out drink holders, cargo nets, tie-down hooks, and a proper parcel shelf.

Mech & Tech

The petrol 2.0L turbocharged engine of the T2 produces 187kW (254 horsepower) and 390Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission well suited for both off and on road use. The T2 features a reinforced chassis and upgraded suspension systems. It uses a McPherson independent suspension in the front and a multi-link independent suspension in the rear. The vehicle incorporates four-wheel-drive (4WD) and various drive modes for sand, mud, snow, and rocky paths. The transmission can amplify torque by downshifting in 4WD mode for challenging conditions.

The Adaptive Cruise Control system maintains a safe following distance by automatically adjusting speed. The Automatic Emergency Braking applies the brakes automatically to help prevent collisions; the Blind Spot Monitoring system warns you of vehicles in your blind spot when changing lanes, and the 540° Panoramic Parking System provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle's surroundings as well as a birds-eye view, to assist with parking.

Driving the T2

The T2 is equipped for adventure with features like XWD (all-wheel drive), multiple off-road modes, and good ground clearance, making it a capable vehicle for various terrains. The monocoque chassis provides a car-like driving experience that is smooth and comfortable, absorbing road imperfections well. The seats are supportive, and the suspension is well-tuned. While its styling suggests ruggedness, it performs more like a car on the road.

Cornering and stability are composed, and for a vehicle of its size it is surprisingly nimble. The steering is quick to respond. The T2 has three electronically adjustable steering modes: Light, Comfort, and Sport. One can select these modes to change the steering wheel's weight and feel. The steering wheel also features manual 4-way (tilt and telescopic) adjustment and paddle shifters. While the T2’s acceleration is not whip-lash quick, the 2.0L turbo engine provides sufficient performance for most situations. Adaptive cruise control functions as expected, and there is lane departure warning if you get lazy and drift out of your lane!

We did not test the T2 off-road. However, there is an impressive array of off-road features including a robust chassis with four-wheel independent suspension, sixth-generation intelligent torque management and an intelligent limited slip differential lock. The T2 supports switchable four-wheel drive modes, rear-wheel torque distribution, intelligent power output, and intelligent Crawling Mode among other high-tech features, that should give confidence to the average driver and even the off-road enthusiasts could take it off-road knowing that all these assistance features are available in case one encounters really bad tracks. It also offers high ground clearance of 220 mm and an impressive water wading depth of 700 mm. The vehicle's approach and departure angles are 39° and 30°, respectively, along with a 25° break-over angle, which enhances its ability to handle challenging terrain.

Safety

The T2 incorporates crash sensors and front/side impact beams. It also includes a comprehensive suite of safety features, such as standard equipment like multiple airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC), and a traction control system. Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are also available, including adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), lane departure warning (LDW), and a 360-degree camera system. Where child safety is concerned, the T2 includes ISOFIX child seat mounts and child safety locks.

Living with the T2

The Jetour T2 feels both refined and agile in urban settings, seamlessly weaving through narrow lanes and tight traffic with the ease of a much smaller car. The steering is responsive and light, making parking in tight spaces and U-turns effortless. The T2’s ride quality remains composed even over speed bumps and uneven city roads while its elevated driving position offers a clear view of the surroundings, making it a great choice for daily commutes in busy environments. The well-tuned suspension soaks up minor imperfections without making any compromises in handling. So indeed, living with a T2 would undoubtedly be a pleasant experience.

Fuel Economy

The Jetour T2 2.0L is said to have an average fuel economy of approximately 9 -10 km/L in combined driving, though this can vary. In real-world city driving one could expect around 9 km/L, while highway driving can reach 11 km/L or slightly higher. Official average is around 9.3 L/100 km, which is roughly 10.75 km/L.
