Fiat’s New 500 was released in 2020 as the automaker’s electric city car. Built in the historic Mirafiori Turin factory, it’s also called the Fiat 500e in some markets and offers a driving range of up to 320 kilometres (199 miles). This little Italian has just picked up a fine accolade, being awarded ‘Best Electric Urban Car’ by DrivingElectric.
Richard Ingram, Editor, DrivingElectric, said: “Last year’s DrivingElectric Car of the Year, the Fiat 500 is still the best in its segment. Reinvented for the electric era, this retro take on the evergreen small car is nippy, agile and fun to drive – with a range that will satisfy urban drivers twice over.” The New 500 comes in a range of three bodystyles including a convertible, and features an all-new Android-based infotainment system as well as Level 2 Autonomous Driving capabilities. Two battery pack options and two motor power outputs are available, with the nippiest combo achieving zero to sixty in nine seconds.
